Christmas and New Year refuse collection

A number of  residents have contacted me regarding arrangements for collecting refuse over the festive period. I’ve had an email from the Council setting out the details, which I’ve reproduced below.

I hope all residents and readers have a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!

Subject: Refuse and Recycling Collections over Christmas and New Year

Dear Councillor

I am writing to you to let you know about the collection schedule for refuse and recycling collections over the Christmas and New Year period.

As usual, scheduled household collections will not take place on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. All other collection dates will remain unchanged.

Refuse Collection

  • Collections due on Thursday 25th December will be made on Thursday 1st January 2015
  • Collections due on Friday 26th December will be made on Friday 2nd January 2015

and weekly thereafter.

Paper and mixed recycling collection

  • Collections due on Thursday 25th December will be made on Thursday 8th January 2015
  • Collections due on Friday 26th December will be made on Friday 9th January 2015

and fortnightly thereafter.

Household Recycling Centres

  • The five Household Recycling Centres will be closed only on 25th and 26th December.

Wheelie Bins

It is recognised that additional waste is produced by many residents over the Christmas and New Year period (and other Festive periods) and side waste may be presented by households for collections between Monday 29th December and Friday 9th January.

Yours sincerely

 Tommy Wallace
Director of Fleet and Waste Management
