Strike a light!

I’ve just received details of the next set of local streets that will benefit from brand new street lighting, as part of the rolling programme to improve lighting, pavements and road surfaces across the area.

Amey, the contractors who are carrying out the work, are replacing around half the lights in Birmingham over the next five years as part of the ongoing Highway PFI deal.  Lighting in residential areas will be replaced using state of the art LED technology that will reduce energy consumption for street lighting and help meet the city’s carbon reduction commitments.

Work will be starting over the next four weeks in the following streets: Ankermoor Close, Barlands Croft, Tyebeams, Orkney Avenue, Ridgewood, Shepherds Standing, Sheldon Hall Avenue, Spondon Grove, Tanglewood Close.

The works will take up to 30 days to complete and will be carried out Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm only.  Access to properties should not be affected, but if you do have any questions about the works, please contact the Highways team on 0121 303 6644.
