Christmas & New Year refuse collections

Quite a number of residents have contacted me over the last few days asking about the arrangements for collecting refuse and recycling over the Christmas period.

I’ve checked with the Council and have been told that refuse and recycling collections on Tuesday 27 December, Monday 2 January and the rest of the Christmas period are scheduled to continue as normal.

On Monday 26 December there will be black bag collections only – households due a recycling collection that day should put it out on Saturday 31 December.

You can also take your waste to any of the city’s five Household Recycling Centres, which will remain open every day except 25 and 26 December.  The Centres are open between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and between 8am and 4.40pm at weekends.

While green recycling collections have been suspended for the winter and are not due to recommence until 6 February 2012, the Council is setting up special Christmas tree disposal points in its parks throughout January.  From 6 January  to 29 January disposal points will operate adjoining the visitor centres at Lickey Hills, Sheldon, Sutton and Woodgate Valley country parks.

I hope this helps, but if you have any problems or questions, please do let me know.
