What’s going on at Cole Hall Lane?
Over the next week or so, some exploratory ground investigation work will be taking place at the site of the former Yardley Sewage Works, which adjoins Cole Hall Lane. You can see the detailed plan of the site by clicking here.
The site has been earmarked for possible new housing development in the City Council’s Core Strategy (the formal plan for guiding new development across the city). However, before any housing could be considered, the ground has to be checked for contamination and any other potential problems. If it is found to be suitable, there would then have to be a formal planning application from a developer and detailed public consultation.
The exploration works should be completed by 3 February and will take place during daylight hours to minimise any disruption. Details of the works have also been circulated to all residents living near to the site and the outcome, together with any future proposals, will be reported back to the Councillors and the local community.
